Audio version of our ‘Brown Babies’ exhibition now available!
Soon after we launched our ‘Brown Babies’ exhibition, a number of visitors asked us if we had an audio accessible version so they could share it with friends who were visually impaired.
We didn’t but thanks to support from ARU, we now do!
ARU’s additional funding of ‘Brown Babies’ (a collaboration with Professor Lucy Bland) enabled us to work with the phenomenal Dani Moseley to record the main nine panels of the digital exhibition. You may know Dani from her recent television and theatre work, such as her role in BBC3’s Dreaming Whilst Black, or acting opposite Ralph Fiennes in The Bridge Theatre’s production of David Hare’s Straight Line Crazy.
We were also privileged to work with legendary sound recordist Mick Duffield, who oversaw production of the recording at The Crypt Studio in North London. Mick has worked on a vast range of prestigious productions, including the award-winning documentary Touching the Void (2003).
You can listen to the full audio version which encompasses the main nine panels, or you can access each audio section individually via the nine exhibition pages:
Mixed-race children kept by their mothers
Mixed-race children largely cared for by their grandmothers
We hope you enjoy this audio version of ‘Brown Babies’ –please do share with anyone you think might also appreciate the recording. Many thanks again to ARU as sponsors of the audio version, and Dani and Mick for helping us improve accessibility at The Mixed Museum.
